Being Authentic

When you are asked to enter a password, have you ever wandered why it is called "authentication"? It is because passwords are usually unique. They are not copied from somewhere just because it is cool or it is accepted by majority. In fact, the stranger a password, the better. Then why are people scared of being authentic? Well, there might be many reasons behind it. But the strongest influence according to me is a person's social image. Especially, in today's world where "good "acts, looks and things are judged based on the number of likes on social media. We like to be accepted by the society, don't we ? The thought of "them" bitching about a particular trait of ours, sends shivers down our spine. We all want everyone to admire us. I agree, it feels good when we hear people praising us. But I want to tell you that this feeling is superficial. It is short lived. Trust me, people really don't care what you do. They merely say what they have to say, and then cease to remember. And anyways, who are they? It is your life, you should do what you want to and not what they want you to. At the end of the day, you have to answer yourself, not them. You have to be happy with yourself, because people will come and go, but you will stay forever in your life! When you live a lie, you start to feel unsecured. You feel like running away from this busy, chaotic world. You are betraying yourself and that is THE MOST HEINOUS crime you could ever commit. Have you ever gone for shopping and loved a dress at first sight? But then you thought it would look queer on you! Have you ever craved for walking or dancing in the rain? But did not because people would then call you a maniac? Or were you a foodie but stopped eating cause you were putting on weight and you didn't want to be called fat? Are you wearing those uncomfortable heels because people call you "shorty"? Are you refraining from learning that new skill which you really want to , just because they say you are too old for it? Or are you wasting your time at parties with people you hardly know just to gain popularity? If you are doing any of these self betrayal acts, then I request you to take a deep breath and ask yourself. IS THIS WHAT YOU REALLY WANT? IS THIS WHO YOU REALLY ARE?

Of course there are times when you do need to adhere to certain rules on how you present yourself. I mean you can't dress the way you want in a business meeting, or drive anyhow on the road or shout in a public place. This is pretty obvious.

So go out there and be your authentic self. There is only one "you". I want you, to be the best "you". Each of you are unique, but most importantly each of you is an outstanding individual!!. The freedom, happiness and satisfaction you get in being original, being you, being authentic, there's nothing like it. It is simply heaven!!!! Promise yourself to live for yourself, to do what you like, to be authentic. Start today, because life is short and we have only one life!!!
